They said: “You lived by the rules of violence your whole life, now you have a chance to use your skills for the greater good. Be the horror of the unrighteous, be the bogeyman sinners have nightmares about!”.

I’ve seen cruel and grim things in my life, but even my chilled heart was not prepared for the level of morbidness my new role would entail. Gruesome rituals, dark and ominous ceremonies, rites of cleansing within the murkiest corners of the underground crypts, public executions.

I am doing it for the greater good. I must believe it. I must not forget. My sins will be pardoned. I am the hand that paves the holy path...
